This was a challenge. Over the past three or four weeks, I’ve been clicking away on this pic in what ever spare time I could scrounge. I always though Mecha Sonic was cool from Sonic and Knuckles as a kid, so here is a rendition I completed of him now nearly tens years after that game. Using some sprites, I saw that had had the one eye and is the orb that powers up, not from his belly. Looked like he had spring arms in the sprite too (well to me anyways). The other challenge was to use freehand for this pic as I have neglected it for a while and I have never ever used it to do a full drawing. Everything in this pic was done in freehand, even the rendering, it all just lots of layered gradients (I found a good use for them for once) and why it took so long to do. The BG was a simple wand trace as I’ve already suffered over Mecha himself. But I played with the colours in Photoshop to get the desired result before I used the trace tool. So yeah my first piece of vector art. And it Mecha Sonic not the usual Metal who is (c) Sega and Angel Island in the BG. Art (c) Me
